What to Look for When Buying a Collar for your Husky
- Contact Information – Make sure the collar has an ID tag. Some husky dog collars such as our tactical collars have space for a customised patch.
- Buckle Type – In most cases, a collar with a quick release buckle is easiest to use, although pin buckles are arguably stronger unless the quick release buckle is a COBRA buckle which is famous for its strength.
- Width – Look for a wide Siberian husky collar, as this spreads pressure across a larger area. Even if your dog is wearing a harness, you never know when you may need to use the collar’s d-ring in an emergency. We recommend at least 1.5” wide collars, although 2” collars are even better.
- Durability – Dog collars need to be strong and durable, as they are often snagged on bushes, chewed, and dunked in ponds. Strength is even more important if you have two dogs, as it’s common for one dog to chew the other’s collar.
- Adjustable Design – Most collars can be easily adjusted, which is important for getting a safe and comfortable fit. Inner cushioning can also make the collar more comfortable.
- Style – While style isn’t the most important consideration, we all want our dogs to look great! There are a variety of Husky collar styles, including Chains, tactical collars and many more.
It’s also essential to choose a husky collar that’s the right size for your pet. A dog collar that’s too big is easy to escape from, while one that’s too small can be dangerous and uncomfortable.
As a general rule, you should be able to slide two fingers under the collar once it’s been fitted. You should also check the collar can’t easily slip over the head.
Our top pick for a husky collar is the excellent Tactical collar range. It’s a tough and durable collar that’s perfect for bigger dogs – plus it’s made from durable Nylon.
Regal Dog have designed our tactical collars to be easy to adjusted to the exact fit your dog requires.
It’s also a relatively wide collar with a strong metal D-Ring. Al 5cm sizes are 2” wide and come with a handle for extra control. While we don’t recommend walking a Siberian husky without a harness, the extra width can reduce pressure if you need to use the collar for walking in an emergency.
There are several colour options available – Black, Blue, Pink, Green and Orange to name a few. You can also add an informative patch which is useful for notifying others about your dog.
